Highlights – The amazing cities of Salamanca, Toledo & Segovia; Fabulous 3* & 4* hotels; Great roads;
We shall be undertaking our usual detailed research for this tour in February 2024 but from running the “Masked Guinea Pig Tour” in July 2020 (see the review under Testimonials) we have a good idea of what this tour will consist of. We shall be changing the start and end hotels to avoid staying in the same hotels as on the Portugal & Spain Tour. Once the research has been completed we’ll update this page with much more information.
Thursday 19 – Saturday 28 September 2024
Our view: The cities we shall visit are amazing, hence why we’re running this tour! There is great scenery, historical interest, traditional experiences and superb hotels.
This tour starts & finishes at Santander, Spain (we shall be taking the ferry from Plymouth on the way out, returning to Portsmouth – ferry crossing is not included in the tour price) and from the afternoon ferry arrival we ride to our first 4* hotel in the capital of the Basque region. Dinner is included tonight.
The next day we’ll ride to Segovia, we have identified a 3* hotel close to the town centre with it’s fabulous 2-storey viaduct. This will be a free night to explore.
Day three we’ll head to Toledo where we’ll have 2 nights in a 3* hotel with swimming pool – a short walk from the city centre. We’ll include dinner on one evening here. Day four is a day off to explore the city & relax in the pool!
Day five we ride to Spain’s Extremadura region where we’ve found a 4* hotel in a World Heritage City.
Day six we head to Salamanca to a fabulous, central 4* hotel for 2 nights. The next day and both evenings will be free for you to explore the city.
Day eight we ride to a city on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella which has many historic monuments including the Castle of the Knights Templars. Dinner is included again this evening in a 3* hotel.
Day nine we ride through the Picos mountains up to the coast for our last night in a 4* hotel. Dinner is included this evening.
On day ten we head back to Santander in time for the afternoon Brittany Ferries crossing to Portsmouth which arrives the next day (Sunday).
Total mileage for the Tour: 1100 miles, longest day 235 miles, no peage motorway (all t.b.c.)
This will be a fully guided motorbike tour with a luggage van – following the same routes as the bikes – included in the price. The routes have been extensively researched and as we stop every hour and a half for coffee, lunch or fuel, pillions will not be too long in the saddle. We always use a “second man drop off” marker system with a tail end rider so you will not need to refer to maps or sat-navs and as we limit the number of bikes on a tour to a maximum of 15 no-one is kept waiting too long.
The hotels we have chosen are all independent, five nights in 4* hotels, four nights in 3* hotels. Secure parking is either in the hotel garage or grounds. Full details of all hotels will be provided in the tour pack which is sent out 3 – 4 weeks before the tour starts.
Price: £1695 per person in a shared room, £2195 for a single room – includes:
- 10 days fully guided tour led by experienced guides.
- Good quality 3* & 4* hotel accommodation with en-suite facilities and breakfasts for 9 nights
- Evening meals with drinks on 4 nights
- Two rest days
- Luggage van
- Tour information pack – which includes a detailed itinerary, hotels, explanation of marker system, road signs etc
Your ferry, meals & drinks other than as stated above are not included in the price.
We shall not be using any toll/peage motorways – t.b.c..
A deposit of £295 per person is payable upon booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before departure.
We need a minimum of 12 guests to run this Tour.
