4 x 4 (Four Countries in Four Nights) – on bikes!  11 – 15 August 2015

The Group at a viewing post overlooking the Rhine

The Group at a viewing post overlooking the Rhine

Hi Jen & John, I should like to start by expressing my immense gratitude to you both for organising the amazing 4×4 Tour. It surpassed even my highest expectations and was a combination of stunning bike routes mixed with breath taking scenery. All blended in with great crack and banter with our new tour friends. Simon, Rob, Tom and I absolutely loved it and I can understand why you get so much repeat business.

You have clearly researched the routes and hotels well and have catered exceptionally well for both the full on biker to the more steady sightseer. Your drop off marker system with a constant back marker (thank you Paul, great job!) works incredibly well and leaves no one wondering where to go. Provided, that is, you don’t pass the lead bike…. ;0)

It was a real pleasure spending time with you both and hopefully I shall be doing so again in the future…. That is if you aren’t too booked up ! Thanks again Jen & John”

“John, Jen – another great trip, aside from the Colin incident! As always the hotels and routes were great, I really appreciate and understand how much effort you both put into your research and choice of hotels etc. (The food was great too, certainly to a higher standard than the after dinner jokes!!!)”                                          Paul Chambers, 8th trip, Backmarker on this tour, Triumph Explorer, Great Barford

“Thank you to you both for your care and attention. Obviously very disappointed I missed the tour, but worse things happen…hope to be on another of your tours within the next 12 months. I took out the breakdown & holiday insurance you listed. Green Flag have been excellent so far…Best wishes”                                              Nick Cahill, 1st tour, broken-down Triumph Sprint!, Ilkley, W Yorks

“John, Jen, thanks once again for a great time, this time on your 4×4 Tour. As usual I can’t fault the riding, hotels, food and of course the great company of you both and all my new biker mates in this group. I look forward to seeing you again next year. Keep the good work up please”                                                                   Chris Lockyer, 3rd trip, Yamaha Tracer, Broadstone, Dorset

” Our second tour with John & Jen who once again provided a superb trip. The hotels, food, roads, scenery, etc etc were fantastic. Also the great crowd of people on the tour made it. It is plainly obvious that you both go to a lot of time and trouble to make sure that every little detail is accounted for. If anyone is reading this who hasn’t been on any tour with John & Jen, we can assure you that you will not be disappointed. We have no connections to BN, just think that you should book a tour, be looked after, and enjoy the riding. They are real good value for the money.”  Dave and Val Burlingham, 2nd tour. “Another excellent trip with Bike Normandy, great meeting up with people from previous trips – it’s more like meeting up with old friends. For all you people reading the testimonials on their website, or visiting the stand at the N.E.C, proof is in the pudding, you won’t be disappointed. We’d like to thank Jen & John for all their hard work, and everyone on the trip for a great time. See you next year on the Black Forest Tour!”                           Sandra & John Shepherd, 4th tour, Honda Deauville, Stevenage

“Just wanted to say we had a fabulous time on the Rhine in Flames trip with a great, friendly group of people – thanks all – we hope our paths cross again on future tours. John & Jen  – thanks for all the hard work you put into researching every aspect of your tours. We stayed in some lovely hotels, with great food and excellent company and we rode some fantastic roads . The weather was great too. What more could we wish for. The hotel in Boppard overlooking the Rhine was a perfect location and Saturday night’s firework display viewed from the Cruise Boat was absolutely spectacular. A fun evening from start to finish. Not to be missed. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd trip  with you all and are looking forward to seeing you again on future BN European biking holidays – take care & ride safe. Kind Regards”                                                                                             Alan & Julie Grieves, 2nd tour, Ducati Multistrada, Hinckley, Leics

“John and Jen, thanks for another super trip – and what a great group to enjoy it with. The hotels were excellent, superb routes and good food – plus we were lucky with the weather! I look forward to seeing you again soon on a short break and both of us will be booking a European tour with you next year [since booked on the Black Forest Tour]. All the best”                                                                                                                         Bob (4th trip) and Jozina (2nd trip) Eve, Backmarkers on this Tour, BMW RT1200, Wickford, Essex

The riding was good and well organised with some great roads and scenery throughout. Made some new friends too. Looking forward to next year already
John Heaney, 3rd tour, BMW R1200 GS, Cheltenham

“Hi John an Jen, once again thanks for making this year’s tour such a brilliant experience. As always the routes, hotels and hospitality shown by yourselves were second to none. The Rhine in Flames cruise was a fantastic experience and something I would recommend to anyone. As always there was a great bunch of people on the tour and we had some laughs along the way. Anyway thanks again to you both and I hope to see you again next year for our fourth trip.” Rob Jones, 3rd tour, Honda Crossrunner, Gloucester

“John and Jen, I just wanted to say again, thanks for a really great tour. You are both consummate hosts!   Like everyone, without exception, I had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday because J&J did such a superb job and because you’re all such very good company. As a “tour virgin” (that’s tour not tall!) I didn’t quite know what to expect even though I am a very experienced bike tourer in Europe. It was a revelation not to have to think about where to stay or even when to eat or refuel – just enjoy riding my bike. The big shock has been coming back and having to make all these decisions for myself! Like many of you I’m back in reality and thinking, “where shall go on the bike today – Switzerland or Germany? However, Pompey is the only destination for the foreseeable future 😞!.. Kind regards and best wishes, Big marrow Stew!”

“Thanks to Jen + John for organizing another great trip. Brilliant tour with brilliant roads! The hotels were spot on and the stop locations were gorgeous. Great bunch of people too, even though there were a few hiccups the group really stuck together, that’s what biking is all about! Cheers guys, can’t wait for the next outing”    Michael Palmer, 3rd trip, Street Triple, Lincolnshire

“Hi John and Jen, there are no further superlatives to describe the time that I had on my virginal trip away with BN tours. The organisation was absolutely brilliant, it was great not to have to worry about the route, fuel stops etc. The hotels were great with superb food in great locations. Every day was an adventure on some of the best roads that I have encountered. The interest stops at the biggest cuckoo clock and the toboggan run were ace. I would like to say that the trip was made more perfect by meeting great new friends who I hope I will catch up with some time in the future either on another tour or otherwise…finally, John and Jen, thank you very much for being the consummate hosts and organising the best bike trip ever “TOP FUN” All the best”                        Gordon Cree, 1st tour, BMW K1300S, Rayleigh, Essex

“John and Jen, thank you so much for another brilliant holiday: I really enjoyed it, despite me not being in control of my own bike at all times! It was a brilliant group and we had so many laughs.  I got home safely after 1,400 miles and 18 diary pages…Hoping to see you all on another Bike Normandy tour sometime soon. Kind regards”    Catt Darby, 2nd trip, Honda CBF600, Hemel Hempsted, Herts

“Thanks to John and Jen for organising the tour, it was so well planned out, it took all the worry away about finding routes, hotels and places for coffee and cake!  Hotels were of a very good standard, great locations, spacious rooms, clean and with a good breakfast, and of course we had some great riding…we both thoroughly enjoyed it, and thank you both for all your support and help, I don’t know what we would have done without you both. I can’t thank you enough.

“Hi everyone…

  • Martin & Den – really sorry what happened and hope Den has a speedy recovery. Shame about the last 2 days of the tour – you were greatly missed. Having said all that Mrs White,  that has got to be the worst attempt at a triple salcho off the back of an Explorer I’ve ever seen! No elevation whatsoever off the seat and a distinct lack of poise on landing. For that, I’m giving you 3.9 for Technical Content but 4.5 for Artistic Impression!!
  • Ros – hope you feel better soon but Andy, next time you attempt a doughnut announcing our arrival in Pierrefonds, make sure Ros is strapped on!
  • John & Jen – many thanks again, had a great time. The best roads I’ve ever ridden along with great company and hotels made for the perfect biking holiday. Unforgettable! Cheers everybody!!!”                                                      Alan Bailey, 4th trip, BMW 1200 GS Adventure, Crewe, Cheshire

The reason I like to do organised tours is that it takes away all the worries about booking hotels, routes, roads, fuel, lunch etc. all the planning by John and Jen and the thought put into this trip really paid off. It left us to enjoy the whole experience. The trip was made by the people and this was a really excellent group…I hope to see you all again. A great tour and we really enjoyed everybody’s company. Thanks to everyone for the brilliant feedback. With the most unfortunate accidents ever when Denise (pillion) fell when dismounting and ended up in hospital with a broken knee and Ros (also pillion) chipped her shoulder bone after their bike slipped over on a wet pedestrian crossing – we wish both ladies a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing many of you again on future tours. Where after a short briefing we set off

“What a great biking holiday. My second tour with Bike Normandy and my first time in the Picos de Europa and the Spanish and French Pyrenees and the routes chosen were mind blowing. What made this tour doubly enjoyable for me was the great group of people on this tour. That’s all of you lot. I couldn’t have asked for a friendlier group of fellow bikers – even though when on the bike I mostly saw you from a long way behind as you disappeared over the horizon. But then I’m used to that!” David Craxton, 2nd trip, Honda Deauville

“Just to let you know that Kieron, me and the 5 Sausages arrived home safely!..I seem to have got a reputation for shopping – just cannot think why?!!! I am sorry to report that I am still hunting for those elusive cherries!  At least we all enjoyed a few at the top of the mountain. We both thoroughly enjoyed yet another amazing tour with you all and are really pleased to have made the leader board at last!  As usual John and Jen’s tour routes provided us with superb, twisty roads, flowing bends, magnificent scenery, fabulous hotels, wonderful food and brilliant company to share it all with. We have made some lovely friends and cannot wait until our next tour to meet up with them all again. John and Jen, you are amazing hosts and thanks for organising everything so well.  We felt we were just one part of a big happy, biking family…looking forward to keeping in touch with you all and will, at some point sort my photos out – although Jen, you did a brilliant job of summarising all our exploits! P.S.  Perhaps you could organise a cold chilled box in the back of the van in readiness for my further purchases next year!!!!! Best wishes to all”                                                                  Sharron & Kieron Haines, 3rd trip, BMW K1600GTL

“John and Jen, thanks again to you both…I really enjoy your tours and this one was no exception, in fact I have to say despite the issues in the first days, it is the best so far…

This tour for me delivered everything I expected.  It makes a big change for me to join a tour and to just turn up and ride my bike.  You showed us some of the best roads in Spain and France, spectacular views and scenery, and I loved every second.  The hotels were fantastic and to go the whole week without a drop of rain was even better, even the extreme heat didn’t faze me. This was my third trip with BN and I will be back for more next year (if you are not fully booked).  Thanks again to both of you for a wonderful holiday.”

I think it was great how everybody pulled together when situations went a bit awry and it made me feel very proud to be with such a great group of people. Thank you all!” Martin Clist, 2nd trip, Triumph Street Triple RX

“Ian and I had such a fab time, as they say all good things must come to and end unfortunately. I cried saying goodbye to you all at the petrol station and again when I was on the ferry although that was mainly down to relief of getting the ferry as Phillips managed to get us lost 3 times on that one journey – no marker system you see!! We’ve been wearing our BN t-shirt/vest with pride over the weekend, promoting it around not so sunny Exmouth!.. Anyway we hope that we will see you all again as some stage on various tours.”                     Heather & Ian Phillips, 1st trip, Suzuki GSX650F

“Thank you John and Jen for another great tour with Bike Normandy – lovely roads, scenery and accommodation but, as always, the company makes it the fun, supportive experience we so value. An incident ridden tour but the resilience and optimism of John and Jen rubs off on everyone and folks rise to the occasion in solidarity. Our own problems with the bike were, and continue to be exasperating, but our overall remembrance of the street party welcome at Rocamadour, and the care shown on the rest of the tour, will carry us forward to our next trip. See you next summer!”                                                                                                         Terry (8th trip) & Fran (6th trip) Stanfield, Triumph Sprint

WW2 Extended Sights Tour  31 May – 6 June 2015

The Group at St Mere Eglise - another fab tour with a great bunch of guests

The Group at St Mere Eglise – another fab tour with a great bunch of guests

Hi John & Jen, for me the tour was a perfect mix of motorcycling and WW2 history, with good food, comfortable hotels and fine company.  The organisation was hard to fault.  I thought that the choice of places visited was excellent.  I doubt that I would have visited St Nazaire or Oradour without this tour.  I’ve already recommended this tour to my friends and fellow members of the PEMC.  Please keep up the great work!”       Mike Cook, 1st tour, Harley Davidson Sportster 1200

“Bonjour John & Jen, I would like to thank you both for a wonderful time, as I said it was Brilliantly Good ( just for you John), and thank you so much for looking after me so well…the Tour was outstanding and I will wear my T Shirt with pride and help spread the gospel of BN Tours to all my mates at the British Legion and elsewhere. You are both Lovely Lovely people – too generous. I will hopefully see you again next year so get the tablets ready Jen! I wish you all the best and hope your Business keeps being a great success that you both deserve. Love “Horrible Horace”!” Mike “Horace” Barrett, 1st tour, Honda Goldwing

“Hi Jen and John, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the tour. Well researched roads and hotels, well timed coffee/fuel stops  and well chosen lunch stops. My thanks also to” Pancake and Dennis” our back markers. As always with BN Tours “satisfaction guaranteed”. You can be sure Parker, Pete (who couldn’t make it this time), and I will be back in 2016.” Chris Martin, 6th visit, Suzuki V-Strom 650

“Hi John and Jen, we just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the World War II tour. It is evident that you have both taken lots of time to research everything to make the tour run smoothly. All  the fuel stops, coffee breaks, lunch stops and hotels have been carefully chosen, so all we had to do as rider and pillion was jump on the bike and enjoy the day! The hotels were a combination of traditional through to the modern 4*, so basically we got a good mix of everything. Every day we had places and sites to visit but it never felt as though we were being rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was lovely to be able to share our experiences on the tour with a great group of people. We can understand why you gets so much repeat business – well done to you both, and we are looking forward to our next tour in July!”                                                                                                 Martin (“Pancake!”) & Denise White (3rd tour as back-markers), Triumph Explorer

“Hi Jen and John, many thanks for the photos and once again I enjoyed the trip – this time from the safety of my settee! The real trip was fantastic, despite the first day’s weather. You guys were the best host and hostess with excellent routes, great laughs, and the finest in accommodation. It was my first trip with BN European Tours and certainly will not be my last. In fact there are a number of the guys on the trip I would happily travel with again. Big Thank You” Steve Flattery, 1st tour, BMW 1200 GS Adventurer

“Hi John & Jen, this trip was the best so far, I couldn’t have picked a better way to celebrate my 40th (with the exception of spending time with the girls of course :)). All the hotels were great and the food too! As for the roads and scenery…simply sublime, twisties, sweepers and chilled open roads, there was something to catch the imagination for everyone. The company was great (with the exception of a few clowns! [see last night pics!]), but as always the trip was made by two great hosts! My favourite night was the last night seeing you guys on form and adding that extra spark to whole trip. Of course we’ll be back for more of the same next year. Thanks & all the best”

Monte Carlo or Bust!  8 – 16 September 2014
P1070588 web
Probably the best Monte Carlo or Bust! Tour we’ve run so far…a great group, fantastic weather and good riding all made for a fabulous trip
*
“Hi John & Jen,
Words can’t express the pleasure that I’ve had over the last nine days with Bike Normandy on the Monte Carlo or Bust tour. The riding, on very well selected roads, was as usual superb. The accommodation was first class and the overall organisation was up to your usual high standard. I met a new set of friends on the tour and thoroughly enjoyed their company. I had my most enjoyable ride ever, following Jen for 60km on a continuous set of fast sweepers.
This tour was my 10th visit, and I was presented with a Bike Normandy ‘Been there, done that 10 times’ tee shirt. I’m very proud to have one of these.
Thanks once again for a most enjoyable tour. I look forward to seeing you both next year for the Picos Tour, a weekend ‘Chez Eggleton’ and the Italian Lakes & Swiss Alps tour. You should both be justifiably proud of the fantastic service you give to your customers. Best regards
Ken Cullern, 10th trip, Suzuki GSXR 750

“This was my first Bike Normandy trip, but it certainly won’t be my last. From the moment we got off the ferry we were looked after totally. The routes were stunning, the twisties through the gorges and along the Route Napoleon were just grin-inducing – I loved every dry moment of it. There was a hairy moment in the rain in the steep downhill section to the dam, but the subsequent sun gave me all the confidence I needed. With just 2 years’ riding experience I was apprehensive about it being the ‘twistiest tour ever’, but the marker system worked very well and allowed me to ride alone at my own pace until I came to a marker pointing the way. There were enough breaks for food and fuel each day. The hotels were all good, and some were fantastic, namely Chenonceaux, Le Mont Dore and superlatively Beaugency. Parking for the bikes was mostly secure in hotel car-parks and garages which left us to worry about what to have for dinner rather than their safety. The included dinners were well chosen and we were given top tips on finding our own restaurants for the other nights. The free day in Monte Carlo was fun and perfectly timed as a rest day after 4 full days’ riding.
The tour from my point of view was so easy and straightforward, which is testament to all the research and organisation from John and Jen behind the scenes. The people on the tour, both organisers, helpers and guests, were so welcoming and really made the tour much more enjoyable. We had a lot of laughs and everyone helped each other out when necessary with advice and expertise. Roll on next year for my next tour!
Thank you both so much. It was all fantastic.
P.s. I really don’t count the John/Andy combo sufficing as a penguin sighting!”

“Arrived home safe and sound after Peter got us lost, right outside the port! We had a nice countryside detour & that’s one of the reasons we go on organised tours – guaranteed to get where we’re going! Thank you all for making the tour a bit special, I really enjoyed it. Jen, and John (who by the way likes Jen!) lay the foundations of a great holiday but the camaraderie of fellow Tourers puts the icing on the cake. Hope our paths cross again in the future on tour. Seriously, sincere thanks to ‘Bike Normandy’ for yet again a faultless and enjoyable tour.”
Bruce Hay (3rd trip), BMW R1200RT

“I’d just like to say how much I enjoyed the trip and meeting you all.  All the organisation in the world, and there was some, makes for nothing without good company. Thanks to you all for your part in making the trip so good. Finally, of course, thanks to John and Jen for all their hard work in enabling us to have such a good time.”

John & Jen – we realise how hard you both work to ensure we get to ride some fantastic roads , see some stunning scenery and stay in some lovely hotels. Nothing is left to chance as you have researched all aspects to ensure we don’t need to worry about anything except riding our bikes. Thank you all for making it such a wonderful holiday. Hi Jen & John,
It’s a long way from Glasgow to the Portsmouth ferry and then over to France to join your Monte Carlo tour, but it was worth every hard mile.
Thank you for one of my best holidays and most memorable, you and your team have put together a bike riding experience that I could not fault in any way, accommodation, food and the company were all terrific.
It is my intention to do the Black Forest & the Rhine in Flames trip in 2015, which will only leave seven more trips until I get one of the coveted Bike Normandy tee-shirts!
Could you please thank three members of you team, Rita, John and Tim, they were brilliant in passing on their knowledge about riding and bike craft, you could not buy that experience. My confidence on the bike has gone off the scale and I was quite chuffed when they all said they could see a vast improvement in my riding and bike control by the end of the trip.
Thanks Again”
