Highlights – the Millau Bridge, Route Napoleon, Gorgeous Gorges of the Lot, Tarn, Verdon & Ardeche
Saturday 27 September – Sunday 5 October 2025
Our view: the South of France is a heaven for motorcyclists who like proper bends. This tour isn’t high mileage but it is very twisty through the Gorges and the Route Napoleon. The riding does require high levels of concentration so it’s not for inexperienced riders. Two nights on the Riviera with a fab swimming pool and a day off the bikes may attract pillions who should be happy to enjoy the views from the back seat! Breathtaking scenery throughout.
This trip starts and finishes in Caen, Ouistreham. On day one our late afternoon arrival at our 3* hotel with outdoor swimming pool in the Loire allows those that wish to to visit nearby Chenonceau Chateau. We then all get to know each other over dinner and drinks in the hotel.
The next day we ride on some fantastic sweeping roads through the land of “Millevaches” (a thousand cows!) to our next 3* hotel where dinner is included at a local restaurant.
Day three we ride through the twisty gorges of the Lot to the Millau Bridge (the “Bridge in the Sky”) stopping at the Visitor Centre and the viewing area for lunch & photos before riding across the bridge itself. We continue through the Gorges du Tarn to our hotel with a swimming pool close to Uzes in Provence where you have a free night to explore this town famous for its’ truffles.
We then head to the French Riviera, passing along tree-lined roads, through olive groves to our 3* hotel with a fabulous swimming pool. Ideally situated between Nice and Monaco our hotel for two nights has panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and a rooftop bar. This evening is at your leisure, stroll down to the harbour to find many restaurants nestled in the back streets and along the quayside.
On our day off it’s “Monte Carlo or Bust!” Take the 10 minute train journey, or the bus, or ride your bike into Monaco. Try your luck at the Casino and see the luxury yachts of the rich and famous. Tonight again is at your leisure.
Back on the bikes we leave the Riviera behind and ride up the fabulous Route Napoleon and through the Grand Canyon du Verdon – Europe’s largest gorge. Our hotel tonight is in Orange, just a short stroll from the original Arc de Triomphe. Dinner is again included.
On day 7 we ride through the Gorges de l’Ardeche – the last of our Gorgeous Gorges! The scenery then changes as we move into Vulcania where we stay overnight surrounded by volcanoes. Tonight is at your leisure, the hotel is based in a ski resort and there are many restaurants nearby offering local specialties.
Heading home, we spend our final night at Beaugency where we enjoy our last supper together and the usual light-hearted review of the trip.
This will be a fully guided motorcycle trip from the moment you arrive at the port of Ouistreham, Caen. The routes have been extensively researched and as we always stop every hour & a half for coffee, lunch or fuel any pillions will not be too long in the saddle. As we use a tried & tested “drop-off” marker system with a tail-end rider there is no need for you to refer to road books or maps.
We will stay in small, independent hotels, all with plenty of character, biker friendly and all centrally located.
A luggage van – included in the price – follows the same route as the tour and is available for you to store jackets & helmets at any of the stops.
