Highlights – The amazing cities of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Segovia, Toledo, Caceres, Salamanca, Ponferrada & Llanes; Fabulous 3* & 4* hotels; Great roads through National Parks, lovely scenery:

Thursday 11 – Saturday 20 September 2025

Our view: The cities we shall visit are amazing, hence why we’re running this tour! There is great scenery, historical interest, traditional experiences and superb hotels. There are some VERY twisty roads so even though this is a cities tour you MUST be a very competent rider to join the trip.

This tour starts at Santander and finishes at Bilbao, Spain (we shall be taking the ferry from Plymouth on the way out, returning to Portsmouth – ferry crossing is not included in the tour price) and from the afternoon ferry arrival we take just 24 miles of motorway before riding twisties. With a coffee stop en-route our first night is in a fabulous 4* hotel with secure garage parking in the capital of the Basque region. Dinner is included tonight in a local restaurant in the bustling city centre.

The next day we leave Vitoria-Gasteiz, crossing the Mountains of Vitoria with great views over the Rioja vineyards, through the National Park of Cameros, riding round a huge Reservoir then with lunch in the Mountains. We cross more mountain ranges before arriving at Segovia where we stay in a traditional city centre 3* hotel with secure garage parking. There is a plaza with bars & restaurants right outside our hotel and the amazing, 2-storey aqueduct is just a short stroll away. This is a free night to explore the city.

Day three is just a two stop day with morning coffee & lunch stops. We ride through the National Park of Guadarrama to Toledo where we’ll have 2 nights in a 3* hotel with swimming pool – a short walk (1.3 kms) from the city centre. We should arrive late afternoon and the first night here is a free night. There are many restaurants in the town centre. Day four is a day off to explore this ancient city, the capital of the Castilla-La Mancha region, with its Gothic Cathedral, Bell Tower with the biggest bell in Spain, bullring and the home of the painter El Greco.  Back at the hotel relax in the pool before dinner which is included in the hotel restaurant.

Day five we ride to Spain’s Extremadura region on fabulous sweepers and more twisties. Lunch is in one of Spain’s prettiest towns with a stunning Basilica – make sure you step inside. We stay this night in a great central 4* hotel with garage parking in the World Heritage City of Caceres with its cobbled, medieval streets, encircled by 12th century Moorish walls. This is a free night and there is a busy plaza with lots of restaurants to choose from just a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Day six we ride through more National Parks, with white & grey storks everywhere.  With some really twisty roads & hairpins before lunch we then arrive at Salamanca to a fabulous, central 4* hotel (which was an old Palace) with secure garage parking for 2 nights. The next day and both evenings will be free for you to explore this superb city with its impressive architecture and spectacular Plaza Mayor.

Day eight we leave Salamanca stopping on a huge dam for a photo shoot – there may be Golden Eagles circling if we’re lucky! We dip into Portugal crossing over the River Duero, before riding some superb roads to Ponferrada, a city on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, which has many historic monuments including the Castle of the Knights Templars. We stay in a modern 4* hotel with secure garage parking and dinner is included in a local restaurant just a short walk into town.

Day nine is a day of twisties as we ride through the Picos de Europa mountains, stopping for coffee & lunch stops on our way up to the coast for our last night in a 4* hotel at Llanes. Dinner is included this evening in a quayside, local restaurant.

On day ten we take motorway to Bilbao in time for the lunchtime Brittany Ferries crossing to Portsmouth which arrives the next day (Sunday).

Total mileage for the Tour: 1300 miles, longest day 215 miles (average 190 miles), motorway 80 miles (no peage)

This will be a fully guided motorbike tour with a luggage van – following the same routes as the bikes – included in the price. The routes have been extensively researched and as we stop every hour and a half for coffee, lunch or fuel, pillions will not be too long in the saddle. We always use a “second man drop off” marker system with a tail end rider so you will not need to refer to maps or sat-navs and as we limit the number of bikes on a tour to a maximum of 15 no-one is kept waiting too long.

The hotels we have chosen are all independent, six nights in 4* hotels, three nights in 3* hotels. Secure parking is either in the hotel garage or grounds. Full details of all hotels will be provided in the tour pack which is sent out 3 – 4 weeks before the tour starts.

Price: £1795 per person in a shared room, £2390 for a single room – includes:

  • 10 days fully guided tour led by experienced guides.
  • 3 nights in good quality 3* hotels & 6 nights in excellent 4* hotels, rooms with en-suite facilities and breakfasts
  • Evening meals with drinks on 4 nights
  • Two rest days
  • Luggage van
  • Tour information pack – which includes a detailed itinerary, hotels, explanation of marker system, road signs etc

Your ferry, meals & drinks other than as stated above are not included in the price.

We shall not be using any toll/peage motorways.

A deposit of £295 per person is payable upon booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before departure.

We need a minimum of 12 guests to run this Tour.

All bookings are subject to BN European Tours Ltd Terms & Conditions.
